Responsibilities include:

  • Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to meet their needs.
  • Checking product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate action.
  • Providing customers with ordered products, both fresh and non-perishable.
  • Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
  • Reporting product ordering or shipping discrepancies to management.
  • Staying current with ads and promotions.
  • Adhering to food safety regulations and maintaining proper temperatures in cases and coolers, with logs.
  • Gaining knowledge of department products to assist and suggest to customers.
  • Creating a welcoming environment, making customers feel valued and appreciated.
  • Reinforcing safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Performing preventive maintenance and notifying management of repairs needed.
  • Reporting accidents involving customers or employees.
  • Working cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Managing conflicts in a reasonable, cooperative manner.
  • Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Following directions and seeking help to resolve issues.
  • Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
