Job Description: Grocery Clerk

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards. Key responsibilities include:

1. Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.
2. Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
3. Provide customers with ordered grocery products, ensuring quality and freshness.
4. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise accurately.
5. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
6. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
7. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, maintaining proper temperatures and logs in cases and coolers.
8. Gain knowledge of products sold within the department to assist and make recommendations to customers.
9. Create a welcoming environment that makes customers feel valued and appreciated.
10. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
11. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
12. Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
13. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment, managing conflicts professionally.
14. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
15. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
16. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
