Responsibilities include:

• Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to meet their needs.
• Checking product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate action.
• Providing customers with ordered grocery products, both fresh and non-perishable.
• Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
• Reporting discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the department manager.
• Staying current with advertisements, seasonal, and special offers.
• Adhering to food safety regulations and maintaining proper temperatures and logs in cases and coolers.
• Gaining knowledge of department products to respond to questions and make suggestions.
• Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and making them feel valued.
• Reinforcing safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management.
• Practicing preventive maintenance and reporting equipment issues.
• Reporting customer or employee accidents to management.
• Working cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environments.
