Responsibilities include:
- Informing customers of food specials and recommending grocery items to meet their needs.
- Checking product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates, and taking appropriate action.
- Providing customers with ordered grocery products, both fresh and non-perishable.
- Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
- Reporting discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the department manager.
- Staying current with advertisements, seasonal, and special offers.
- Adhering to food safety regulations and maintaining proper temperatures and logs in cases and coolers.
- Gaining knowledge of department products to respond to questions and make suggestions.
- Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and making them feel valued.
- Reinforcing safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management.
- Practicing preventive maintenance and reporting equipment issues.
- Reporting customer or employee accidents to management.
- Working cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environments.
- Managing conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
- Acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Following directions and seeking assistance when needed to resolve issues.
- Supporting and assisting minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
