Responsibilities include:
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get what they need.
- Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
- Provide customers with ordered grocery products, both fresh and non-perishable.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report discrepancies in product ordering or shipping to the department manager.
- Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, and keep temperature logs.
- Gain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer questions with suggestions.
- Create a welcoming environment where customers feel valued by engaging with them about products.
- Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
- Report customer or employee accidents promptly.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
- Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
