Job summary

Food Lion in Banner Elk, NC is hiring for a friendly, customer-focused associate to join our Center Store team. You will help customers, stock shelves, process orders, and ensure products are displayed safely and accurately.

The role requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to learn store procedures, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Prior experience with inventory systems such as ACIS and CAO is a plus, but training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations

Responsibilities

• Provide quality customer service within the Center Store (Grocery) Department and maintain standards in accordance with the standard practice manual
• Maximize sales through excellent customer service and minimize shrink through proper utilization of standard practice
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service
• Be courteous and helpful to other associates
• Keep shelves and shelf tag moldings clean with damp cloth as needed when stocking
• Maintain shelf allocations by stocking from tag to tag
• Place only saleable merchandise on the shelves
• Ensure ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise complies with policies and guidelines
• Understand and use company tools such as ACIS (average cost inventory system) and CAO (ordering)
• Adhere to company guidelines, policies and standard practice
• Follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause accidents
• Report all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established procedures to the Manager on Duty
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
• Wear the Food Lion uniform with name badge, maintain neat appearance, and adhere to the dress code
• Complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid courses
• Perform all other duties as assigned
