Job summary

Kroger in Shelby Township, MI is seeking a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain a safe, clean environment.

You will bag groceries, assist customers with loading, perform basic shelf conditioning and help with price checks and ensuring items are handled gently.

Qualifications

• Retail experience is preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Bag groceries at checkout for customers.
• Aspire to bag at least five items per bag while avoiding damage.
• Follow best practices for bagging items with different bag types (reusable/plastic/paper).
• Assist in removing merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
• Offer to help customers load bags into their car.
• Perform basic shelf conditioning.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Return merchandise to store shelves.
• Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
• Clean spills, collect trash inside store and in the parking lot.
• Clean all areas inside and outside of store.
• Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
• Understand store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
• Reinforce safety programs by following procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of needed repairs.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products.
• Adhere to local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
