Job summary

Riverwards Produce is seeking a Grocery Associate to own and maintain the Grocery department in its Philadelphia markets. You will ensure a well-stocked, neatly merchandised sales floor, receive deliveries, organize backstock, and support storewide customer service.

You will also assist with merchandising projects, collaborate with buyers on inventory, and help the produce team as needed. This role reports to the Grocery Manager.

Qualifications

• Experience receiving, processing, and/or merchandising specialty grocery in a retail setting.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand 8+ hours.
• Flexibility in scheduling including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Positive attitude and enthusiastic desire to provide storewide customer service.
• Working knowledge of local food makers.

• Uses effective procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product for an aesthetically pleasing sales floor.
• Receives, processes, stocks, and organizes incoming grocery deliveries.
• Works closely with department buyers to report on inventory fluctuations.
• Organizes and maintains the cleanliness of grocery storage spaces.
• Helps execute merchandising displays.
• Assists cashiers and produce teams as necessary.
• Completes all shift task procedures.

Overview:

Riverwards Produce is a group of produce focused markets in Philadelphia.

The Grocery Associate position at Riverwards Produce takes ownership of the Grocery department. They are responsible for maintaining a well-stocked, meticulously merchandised, and organized sales floor. They receive and process incoming grocery deliveries, organize backstock, maintain storage spaces, and perform regularly scheduled cleanings. The Grocery Associate also assists with specialized projects pertaining to merchandising or maintaining inventory in the grocery department. They have an expert knowledge of store vendors and can help customers and staff with inquiries and suggestions. They have a working knowledge of retail customer service in every area and can jump in to help ring up a customer, find a quart of strawberries, or fill a bag of bulk almonds.

Reports to: Grocery Manager

Responsibilities:

• Provides excellent customer service and has a working knowledge of all grocery product

Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and spend 8+ hours standing and walking up and down stairs, this will include lifting, walking, carrying and stooping
• Flexibility in scheduling, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Experience receiving, processing, and/or merchandising specialty grocery in a retail setting
• A positive attitude and an enthusiastic desire to provide storewide customer service
• Working knowledge of local food makers

COMPENSATION:

Compensation begins at $16/hr. Riverwards Produce provides a 20% discount on all store products. Benefits include health, dental and medical insurance (for full time employees), paid parental leave, Employee Assistance Program, Paid Time Off, and flexible scheduling.
