Job description

Position Description:

Performs skilled tasks necessary to metal finish component parts, transportation tanks, and bottles during production. Responsible for examining surfaces and welds to detect defects. The work involves working in confined spaces for up to four (4) hours. Requires careful attention to safety to prevent injuries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Below are examples of responsibilities:

* Inspect equipment before use to ensure safety and proper maintenance.

* Examine surfaces and welds for defects.

* Work in confined spaces.

* Set up, adjust, and operate equipment safely and accurately to produce parts.

* Flap and blend weld burns on tanks using electrical and pneumatic tools.

* Buff outside heads and grind manhole covers and outlet pods.

* Grind welds, deburr metal, and produce finishes.

* Grind, peen, belt, flap, and blend seams inside bottles.

* Follow safety policies and wear PPE such as safety shoes, gloves, glasses, hearing protection, and respirators.

* Perform additional tasks as assigned, possibly in other departments.

Tools & Equipment:

Examples include welders, grinders, overhead cranes, blueprints, hand tools, and others. Training is provided.

Qualifications:

* Ability to read tape measures and perform basic shop math.

* Physical dexterity and ability to apply grinding techniques.

* Willingness to cooperate and work as part of a team.

* Safe use of small machinery and hand tools.

* Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.

* Basic reading, writing, and verbal skills.

Knowledge, Training, Skills, and Experience:

Experience and education are beneficial but not required; training is provided.

Working Conditions/Environment:

Work involves safety, environmental, and health considerations, including exposure to fumes, mechanical parts, vibrations, loud noise, and high temperatures. PPE is mandatory.
