Position: Grinder Operator - Birmingham, AL

National Salvage & Service is seeking a hardworking Grinder Operator for its Birmingham, AL Recycling Yard. We are a sustainable company that recycles nearly all salvaged materials, reducing landfill waste and environmental impact, while saving costs for our customers.

About Us

We are a leading wholesale provider of used and new railroad ties, treated hardwood railroad track products, and recycled utility poles.

Responsibilities
  • Operate skid steers and front-end loaders
  • Operate railroad tie grinder machinery along track sections to grind and smooth tie surfaces
  • Perform pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance on equipment
  • Monitor the condition of rail ties and grinding results to ensure quality
  • Coordinate with rail traffic controllers and crew for safety and scheduling
  • Document work performed, machine hours, and material usage
  • Assist in loading and unloading equipment and tools
  • Pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
Qualifications
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Accurate completion of daily paperwork

  • Adherence to all safety policies and procedures
