A leading manufacturing company is seeking a Grinder Operator to set up and operate various grinding equipment. The ideal candidate will read complex blueprints, perform machining operations, and maintain high standards of safety and quality. This role requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Set up and operate department equipment such as OD and ID grinders; CNC and/or manually operated. Operate grinders to perform a series of machining operations such turning, boring, threading, facing, grinding, drilling, and tapping on production materials.
Work from complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications, job orders, tooling instructions and standard charts to obtain such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions. Make required adjustments to machinery to compensate for material tooling, machine, or program conditions. Troubleshoot and resolve various types of operating difficulties, recommend corrective action on process failures within the department. Determine correct grinding wheel to use to achieve required finish; be able to measure finish using micrometers and other associated tools; be able to hold tight tolerances; be able to maintain proper and accurate records, including inspection reports.

• Set up and operate grinding equipment.
• Operate hand tools as needed in a safe and efficient manner.
• May need to operate overhead crane, forklift, and/or hand-trucks, as necessary.
• Choose correct tools to achieve desired product finish, based on material and other specifications.
• Read and understand drawings and be able to hold tolerances required.
General Responsibilities:
• Performs other responsibilities as assigned and/or as needed to support company objectives.
• Meets on-site and other attendance requirements to effectively build positive relationships and interact with all employees.
Requirements
Work Experience Required:
• Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, schematics, etc.
• Ability to properly use micrometers and other measuring devices to determine finish and tolerances.
• Ability to properly use a tape measure.
Work Experience Preferred:
• Familiarity with grinding stones, grinding wheels, grinding tapes; their applications and uses; and other tools associated with grinding equipment and machine work.
• Familiarity with required hand tools; their applications and uses; and safe handling requirements.
• Professional and maintains a great work ethic.
• A problem solver with initiative and a result-oriented mindset.
• Great attention to detail.
• Ability to work flexible work schedule; OT may be required.
Education and Skills:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 - 3 years’ experience running automated grinding equipment (CNC and/or manual).
