Job summary

Moog is seeking a skilled Grind Machinist II for the 3rd shift in Buffalo, NY. You will manufacture high-precision components for flight-critical systems, operate complex grinders and perform self-setups, while maintaining tight tolerances and reading blueprints.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of Grind Machinist experience, proficiency with micrometers, calipers and dial bore gauges, and familiarity with GD&T. Eligible for a $3,500 sign-on bonus; FAA Drug & Alcohol Program enrollment is required.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience as a Grind Machinist
• Proficiency using measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers and dial bore gauges
• Competency in reading and interpreting blueprints and written work instructions
• Ability to select grinding wheels, dress the wheel and run production parts per drawings
• Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances, typically .001 +/- .0005, GD&T
• FAA Drug & Alcohol Program compliance is required

Responsibilities

Job Title : Grind Machinist II - 3rd Shift

Work Schedule: Onsite - Buffalo, NY At Moog, we design and manufacture high-performance systems that power some of the world's most advanced aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. As a machinist within our Military Aircraft Group, you will machine some of the most challenging parts which will be used on major production programs such as F-35, MQ-25, and FLRAA.

Currently, we are seeking a skilled Grind Machinist who takes pride in precision craftsmanship and wants to see their work contribute to some of the world's most advanced programs. In this role, you'll manufacture complex, high-precision components used in flight-critical systems where quality, reliability, and performance are non-negotiable.

This position is eligible for a $3,500 sign-on bonus. To qualify, candidates must submit their application between July 20, 2026, and November 30, 2026, and is subject to the terms of the bonus agreement.

To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

• High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Grind Machinist
• Proficiency using various measuring equipment, including but not limited to, Micrometers, Calipers, and Dial Bore Gauges.
• Competency in reading and interpreting blueprints and written work instructions.
• Ability to select grinding wheels, properly dress the wheel and run production parts according to drawing requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances, typically .001 +/- .0005, associated with the machining of precision parts (GD&T).
• In accordance with strict Federal Aviation Agency (F.A.A.) regulations regarding Safety Sensitive Work (S.S.W.), employee enrollment & participation in the company's "F.A.A. Drug & Alcohol Program" is a requirement for this position.

As a Grind Machinist II, you will:

• Work from blueprints, operation sheets and/or verbal instructions.
• Grind a wide variety of complex parts having either intricate recessing, interim grooving, numerous steps, tapers, unusual contours, to extremely close tolerances and/or a high degree of finish on two or more of the following type grinders: cylindrical, internal, or surface.
• Perform your own set-ups, including chucking and aligning parts having irregular shapes, selecting proper wheels, speeds, feeds, and operating sequence.
• Dress wheels for form, taper, steps, straight and unusual forms.
• Perform inspection of all work performed using air gages, diatest, V-blocks, profilometers angle plates, and electronic gauging equipment. Detecting unusual conditions, defective materials, and deviate parts; and recognizing errors in operation sheets.
• Participate in the planning of work within the Cell and help solve problems occurring within the Cell.
