Job summary

Celina & Melissa Ace Hardware in Texas is seeking a Grill Sales Associate to warmly welcome customers and help with backyard and BBQ projects. You will promote grills, accessories, fuels, and related products while delivering outstanding service and sharing product knowledge.

The role requires high school diploma, some college, or trades experience, plus retail sales and merchandising skills. Flexibility to work part-time, including weekends and evenings, and to learn POS procedures is essential.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent; trades experience preferred.
• Grilling product knowledge and willingness to cook on gas and smoker grills.
• Basic food preparation knowledge and willingness to obtain certification if necessary.
• Retail sales and merchandising experience.

Position Summary

We are looking for outgoing, friendly, and helpful Grill Sales Associates to warmly welcome and help our customers with their Backyard and BBQ projects. The primary responsibilities of the Grilling – Sales Specialist position are to promote and sell grills, accessories, and fuels while providing amazing customer service, product knowledge, and supporting the store’s operational priorities.

Major Responsibilities

The major responsibilities for this position include:

• Come to work as a happy, friendly associate ready to help every customer and associate.
• Enjoy cooking on a BBQ grill and learn everything about the grills we sell and share.
• Greet customers and ask “What can I help you find today?”
• Ensure customers receive amazing service, sharing comparisons of product features.
• Help customers locate merchandise, show alternatives, and provide help on AceHardware.com and with special orders.
• When selling grills, ensure related accessories, fuels, rubs, and sauces are offered.
• Use radio headset to communicate with other associates.
• Stay aware of all promotions and communicate them to customers.
• Takes ownership of assigned roles and performs to highest standards.
• Execute daily operational tasks and priorities assigned by store management.
• Assist in the training and development of peers with specialty skills.
• Participate in the Store Housekeeping Standards “Maintain as We Go”, including:
• Taking out trash, dusting, mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, breakrooms, and stockrooms.
• Recovering and maintaining merchandising standards, putting away merchandise.
• Retrieving carts from parking areas, picking up outside trash, and cleaning front patio and garden center.
• Process new shipments and help keep receiving and back‑stock area clean, organized, and safe.
• Learn and follow safety rules and safe work practices; report accidents immediately.
• Proactively monitor customers and notify the MOD via headset radio if shoplifting is suspected.
• Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card and promote benefits.
• Answer “how to” questions and provide information on DIY projects.
• Learn POS procedures to backup Customer Service Associates and process high‑value transactions.
• Complete at least 20 hours of training per year and earn 2 badges per year.
• Assume responsibility for all store areas in addition to grilling.

Minimum Requirements

• Happy and friendly person committed to service and excellence.
• High school degree, trades experience, some college preferred.
• Possess grilling product knowledge and actively cook on gas and smoker grills.
• Basic food preparation knowledge and willingness to obtain certification if necessary.
• Product knowledge of hardware categories and willingness to learn.
• Previous retail sales and merchandising experience.
• Sales and marketing experience with retail programs, establishing relationships with customers.
• Knowledge of retail operational computer systems, MS Word and Excel is a plus.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and strong willingness to learn.
• Excellent communication skills, organization, high attention to detail, and ability to multi‑task.
• Ability to work PT flexible hours including weekday shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 40 to 80 pounds as necessary to load and unload customer orders.
• Ability to stand for an extended period.
• Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store.
