Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed is hiring for full-time and part-time grill cook roles at the University of Maryland – Baltimore County, Baltimore, MD. Shifts include Sundays through Thursdays with various start times, and pay ranges from $16.75 to $18.75 per hour.

Positions require prior grill cook or prep cook experience; training and development opportunities are available, along with a range of benefits and discounts. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications

• Prior grill cook / prep cook experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take orders from customers and prepare items requiring short preparation.
• Complete orders from steam tables and serve customers at multiple stations.
• Serve customers efficiently and friendly following established service steps and standards.
• Ensure food is at the correct temperature and attractive; taste all prepared food items.
• Use established ticket‑collection procedures during service; maintain records from the area worked.
• Follow approved recipes and production standards for proper quality, serving temperature, and portion control.
• Carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from workstations, stove and refrigerator per safety standards.
• Store foods in designated areas following standard wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
• Clean, sanitize and maintain all assigned work areas, equipment and utensils to meet sanitation standards.
• Resolve customer concerns and report relevant information to supervisor.
• Attend in‑service and safety meetings.
• Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.
• Perform job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Full‑time and part‑time Grill Cook positions.

Schedule

Sunday – Thursday, 12:00 pm – 9:00 pm or 6:00 pm – 1:00 am; Sunday – Saturday. Schedule details will be provided during the interview.

Pay

$16.75 – $18.75 per hour.

Qualifications

Prior grill cook / prep cook experience is a plus.

Employment Conditions

Because this position requires services in an educational facility, there may be periods when the Company does not require you to perform work (such as winter and summer breaks when food service needs decline or cease). Any such periods during which you do not perform work on the Company’s behalf may be unpaid and deemed a temporary layoff. However, depending on business needs, you may be required to work year‑round, potentially at a different location during break periods. Business needs may vary from year to year.
