Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Food Service Cook to prepare and serve high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals in a hospital setting in Pittsburgh. You will follow standardized recipes, maintain sanitation, and ensure timely service to patients and guests.

Responsibilities include proper food handling, recording leftovers, equipment safety, and contributing to a clean, inspection-ready work area while adhering to SDS and safety procedures. Rotating weekend shifts are required.

Responsibilities

• Chill, store, and record all prepared and leftover food per health guidelines; maintain cooling log.
• Maintain an inspection-ready work area consistently.
• Operate and maintain equipment per guidelines; follow safety procedures.
• Complete in-advance prep for next day’s service.
• Produce high-quality cold and grilled foods per recipes and production sheets.
• Provide courteous, helpful customer service daily.
• Prepare foods within designated timeframes; monitor usage to meet volume needs.
• Adhere to SDS for chemicals; store chemicals away from food areas.
• Adhere to department safe food handling procedures at all times.
• Hours: Rotating weekends; shifts 4:00a.m.–12:30p.m. or 5:00a.m.–1:30p.m.
