The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for staff, visitors, volunteers, and individuals in custody. The DOC operates across the five boroughs with over 7,500 professionals and is involved in criminal justice reform initiatives.

The Office of Constituent and Grievance Services (OCGS) is hiring Grievance Investigators to conduct thorough investigations of grievances and electronic complaints from persons in custody. Investigators will manage the grievance process, ensure compliance, and report to the Grievance Manager or designee.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting investigations and audits of grievance boxes and housing areas.
• Ensuring all grievance forms and logs are accurately maintained.
• Developing rapport with staff and maintaining professional communication.
• Completing detailed investigations and timely reporting.

Preferred Skills:

• 1-3 years’ experience in relevant fields, preferably local government.
• Strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma plus four years of relevant experience, or
• Baccalaureate degree, or
• Equivalent education and/or experience.
