Job summary

Eccalon LLC seeks a Battery Storage Engineer to lead R&D and integration efforts for next-generation grid-scale storage. You will explore advanced chemistries and architectures, design prototype cells, and evaluate performance, safety, and lifecycle metrics across lab and pilot environments.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in battery R&D, hands-on cell design, and strong communication for cross-functional teams, with a focus on scalable, cost-effective storage solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, or related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on battery R&D in lab or pilot manufacturing.
• Experience with electrochemical cell design, electrode fabrication, electrolyte formulations, and testing protocols.
• Familiarity with safety standards for grid-scale battery deployment.
• Experience using EIS, CV, GC, SEM, and XRD for performance evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and test advanced battery chemistries (solid-state, sodium-ion, Li-S, flow).
• Develop experimental methods to assess electrochemical performance, thermal stability, and degradation.
• Collaborate with materials scientists and engineers to source and synthesize battery components.
• Design and build prototype cells for lab testing and scale-up validation.
• Evaluate lifecycle, cost, and scalability for grid-scale deployment.
• Integrate storage with renewables and data center systems with system engineers.
• Contribute to Battery Management System design for monitoring and control.
• Stay current with battery research, manufacturing, and safety regulations.
• Support SBIR proposals and customer engagements with technical insights.
