Job summary

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) is expanding its Engineering and Security Integration team. This Engineer role provides technical leadership in transmission level modeling, studies, and reliability initiatives across the ERO Enterprise.

You will work with industry stakeholders to tackle grid transformation challenges and support strategic reliability programs. You will coordinate technical activities, develop industry guidance, and prepare reports, while partnering

Qualifications

• Understanding of DER technology including IBRs such as wind, solar PV, battery energy storage, hybrid plants, HVDC, and FACTS.
• Root-cause analysis of performance issues and mitigating actions.
• Understanding of power system fundamentals (frequency control, balancing, ramping, voltage control, stability, inverter controls, BPS operation).
• Understanding of NERC Reliability Standards, especially modeling, operations, and protection.
• General knowledge of transmission planning, protection and control, plant configuration and grid operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead technical activities for NERC stakeholder groups (System Planning Impacts of DERs).
• Collaborate with stakeholders to mitigate risks of emerging technologies or distribution system changes impacting BPS reliability.
• Support ERO Enterprise initiatives on DERs, IBRs, and computational loads.
• Work with Event Analysis teams to analyze System Disturbances and develop reports with key findings.
• Analyze transmission level modeling practices and provide industry recommendations.
• Conduct or lead simulations on BPS wide‑area reliability issues.
• Engage with equipment manufacturers, systems integrators, labs, academia in a safe and inclusive environment.
• Prepare engineering analyses and reports to support NERC initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.
