Keysight invites motivated electrical engineering students to join the Grid Test Software Team in Loveland, CO, as a part-time or full-time intern. Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Strong foundation in power systems, three-phase power, protection, controls, and power electronics.
• Genuine interest in hands-on laboratory work — capable of setting up test equipment, running experiments, and troubleshooting system-level issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on testing of distributed energy resources (DERs), including inverters, batteries, and related equipment, using Keysight hardware and software platforms.
• Execute IEEE 1547.1 and other grid compliance test procedures under the guidance of engineering staff.
• Configure test setups, operate laboratory equipment, collect test data, and maintain test documentation.
• Troubleshoot test failures and unexpected results, analyze findings, and communicate results to the engineering team.
• Collaborate with engineers, software developers, and software qualification teams to improve product quality and test efficiency.

Join Keysight's Grid Test Software Team in Loveland, Colorado, as a part-time or full-time intern, and help validate the next generation of distributed energy resources (DERs), such as solar inverters, battery energy storage systems, and electric vehicles. This hands-on role involves performing grid compliance testing using Keysight hardware and software, troubleshooting test results, and reporting findings to the engineering team.

In this role you will gain practical experience with power systems, test automation, lab equipment, and renewable energy technology while contributing to the development and validation of Keysight Grid Modernization Solutions.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
• Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, including power systems, three-phase power, protection, controls, and power electronics.
• Genuine interest in hands-on laboratory work — comfortable setting up test equipment, running experiments, and troubleshooting system-level issues.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to engineering quality and safety.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with distributed energy resources (DERs), including solar inverters, battery energy storage systems, and grid-connected power conversion equipment.
• Knowledge of grid interconnection standards and test procedures such as IEEE 1547, IEEE 1547.1, UL 1741 SB, or similar industry standards.
• Experience working with laboratory instrumentation and measurement equipment, such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, data acquisition systems, programmable power sources, or electronic loads.
• Experience with test automation, scripting, or software-based control of test systems using tools such as Python, MATLAB, OpenTAP, or similar platforms.
• Exposure to .NET/C# programming and development environments.

MIN $ 29.65 - MAX $38.66

Based on experience, education and skills, most offers will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the Salary Range listed.

Schedule: Part-time or full-time, during the academic year (hours flexible around class schedule)
