AES Corporation in the United States is seeking an Engineering Co-op to learn from experienced engineers and business professionals while supporting planning, operation, and modernization of the electric grid.

Responsibilities

• Support engineers on electric infrastructure projects designing future state distribution and transmission power system
• Develop solutions to gather, store, and utilize electrical asset data; create models using PSSE and CYME
• Create scope of work documents, cost estimates, and schedules for assigned projects engaging engineering and other SMEs as required
• Work with AES engineering and finance teams to build the project business cases using financial modeling tools
• Validate project financial data submitted to the annual budget review process
• Manage the budget for assigned T&D annual investment programs
• Utilize Management of Change and Asset Governance processes for controlling modification of equipment, systems, and processes
• Participate in root cause analyses for significant T&D equipment failures
• Support development and updates to Asset Life Cycle Plans for critical asset classes
• Work in an Agile, collaborative environment with technicians, engineers, regulatory experts and businesspeople
• Attend site visits to substations or other engineering sites to verify facilities
• Participate in AES-specific learning opportunities to further knowledge toward energy transition
• Network with peers, AES leaders, and others in events and speaker series
• Use industry leading software to study potential problems on the electrical grid and propose solutions
• Engage in open discussions to identify ways the company can improve to be better prepared for the energy future
