Job summary

Valor Hospitality Partners, LLC is seeking a front-of-house Host/Hostess to greet guests, seat them, and coordinate seating and reservations to ensure a smooth dining experience. You will work closely with servers, the kitchen, and management to maintain timing and guest satisfaction.

The role requires a friendly, punctual individual with strong communication and empathy for guests, plus the ability to manage busy dining room dynamics and assist with special requests.

Qualifications

  • First point of contact for guests; greet, answer questions and make guests feel welcomed.
  • Handle seating requests and manage waiting lists with patience and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of restaurant flow and basic systems to coordinate with servers and managers.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests, escort to table, pull chair, present menus.
  • Ensure entry doors are clean, inviting and accessible.
  • Check menus for accuracy and inform servers of assigned stations.
  • Inform servers and management of seating plan and reservations for the evening.
  • Coordinate with reservations and private parties staff and timing for service.
  • Maintain communication with kitchen and servers to synchronize guest flow.
  • Greet guests departing and confirm overall dining experience.
  • Identify and relay any guest concerns to a manager promptly.

POSITION PROFILE

Greet and seat all guests and ensure a quality dining experience. Supervises and coordinate the activities of the dining room in a restaurant.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greet guests, escort them to their table, pull chair out for the guest, and present menus.
  • Make sure entry doors are clean, free of debris and are inviting, and welcoming.
  • Make sure all menus are wiped down, free of spots or stains, and complete with any special food and beverage items.
  • Inform servers of their location and assigned station.
  • Plan out the seating chart and organize the reservations for the evening.
  • Check with the phone reservationists or answering machine messages to assure you have all reservations.
  • Check with manager to assure private parties are properly staffed and organized for the evening.
  • Check with kitchen to verify menu items are readily available.
  • Keep in constant contact with the servers, manager, and the kitchen to ensure timing and food preparation is synchronized with guest flow.
  • Greet guest as they are leaving the restaurant to ensure guest had a pleasant dining experience.
  • Check to see that everything was wonderful.
  • Not only is the host or hostess the first impression the guest gets when they come to an establishment, they are also the last.
  • Check with every guest to note any problem to quickly get a manager.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

You are the first point of contact for guests. You’ll greet them, make them feel welcome, answer questions. Making sure guests feel comfortable, valued, and attended to is the core of the role. Handling special requests (e.g., seating for kids, accessibility), dealing with waiting lists, helping resolve issues. Positive Attitude & Empathy Knowledge of Restaurant Flow & Basic Systems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Able to lift, push, carry 20 - 40 lbs. Stand continuously for long periods of time. Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests.
