Job summary

The City of Baltimore is seeking a Greenhouse Supervisor to oversee indoor and outdoor horticultural work across municipal conservatories, office plantings and floral displays. The role involves supervising staff, managing greenhouse systems, and ensuring proper care under varying weather conditions.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in horticulture or equivalent experience, valid driver’s license, and ability to operate and maintain irrigation, heating, and cooling systems,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in horticulture from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of experience in horticulture, landscape or floral design work if not holding a degree.
• Possession of a Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver’s license or equivalent and Baltimore City driver’s permit eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and oversee indoor and outdoor horticultural work and displays.
• Supervise horticultural and laboring personnel; ensure timely and high-quality plant care.
• Maintain records and train staff in gardening duties; handle emergencies as needed.
