Job summary

Alcoa Corporation in Newburgh, Indiana is seeking a Green Mill and Ring Furnace Superintendent to lead daily operations, safety, production, quality, and cost performance. You will direct six supervisors and the hourly workforce, partner with Maintenance and Engineering, and ensure a safe, reliable, and productive operation across shifts. This role follows a 7:00 a.m.

to 4:00 p.m. Monday–Friday schedule, with flexibility for off-shift needs and acting Carbon Manager duties when required.

• Strong leadership or supervisory experience in heavy industrial environments, with proven safety performance.
• Ability to coach and develop frontline supervisors and engage employees across shifts.
• Experience driving continuous improvement and structured problem solving.

As Green Mill / Ring Furnace Superintendent at Warrick Operations, you will shape a safer, more accountable, and higher-performing workplace by setting clear expectations, developing leaders, and guiding teams through the day-to-day demands of Carbon operations.

About The Role

You will lead the daily operations of the Green Mill and Ring Furnace, with responsibility for safety, production, quality, cost, reliability, and employee engagement. You will provide direction and development to six supervisors and the hourly workforce, partner closely with Maintenance, Engineering, and other support teams, and maintain visible leadership across shifts. The position generally follows a 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday schedule, while requiring flexibility to support off-shift operational needs and serve as acting Carbon Manager when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily Green Mill and Ring Furnace operations to meet safety, production, quality, cost, and customer requirements.
• Build a strong safety culture through visible field leadership, routine walkthroughs, hazard identification, clear expectations, and consistent accountability, including work involving heavy equipment and crane operations.
• Coach, develop, and align six frontline supervisors while strengthening communication, teamwork, employee engagement, and performance across the hourly workforce.
• Plan staffing, crewing, overtime, equipment, materials, and other resources to support safe, efficient, and reliable production across multiple shifts.
• Drive continuous improvement by monitoring performance, conducting operational audits, addressing gaps, and implementing corrective actions that improve safety, productivity, quality, cost, and efficiency.
• Partner with Maintenance and Engineering to prioritize repairs, coordinate preventive maintenance, improve equipment reliability, and minimize downtime; communicate operational status to employees, leaders, and support departments.

What You Bring

• Strong leadership or supervisory experience in manufacturing, smelting, casting, Carbon operations, or another heavy industrial environment; experience supervising other supervisors is not required.
• A demonstrated commitment to safety and operational excellence, with the confidence to identify hazards, reinforce standards, and hold others accountable.
• Clear, effective communication and the ability to work well with employees, peer leaders, management, and cross-functional partners.
• Proven coaching and employee-development skills, including setting expectations, providing feedback, and building capable, engaged teams.
• Experience leading continuous improvement and structured problem-solving efforts that strengthen operational performance.
• Strong planning, organization, and decision-making skills, with the flexibility to manage competing priorities and support operations across shifts.
