Job description

A Green Chain Puller is a physically demanding, entry-level sawmill position responsible for pulling, sorting, and stacking freshly cut ("green") lumber from a moving conveyor chain by grade, size, and length. The job is fast‑paced and involves intense physical labor during the entire shift.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a green chain position is preferred, although it is not required.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Subject to pre‑employment drug screening (non‑THC) and criminal background check.
• Must have reliable transportation to the job site.

Job Duties

• Offload dimensional lumber off of a chain and sort for shipping and storage.
• Operate machinery and tools used in the green chain process.
• Work at a fast‑paced line, sorting lumber as they move.
• Communicate effectively and safely with other team members.
• Lift lumber repeatedly for the duration of the shift.
• Work consistently in a fast‑paced environment to keep up with production flow.
• Physical attributes: lift and move up to 50 lbs daily, stand up to 10 hours a day, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, stoop and bend at the waist, and move equipment as needed.

Schedule

• Swing Shift: Sunday 2:30 pm to 12:00 am, Monday‑Thursday 3:30 pm to 1:00 am.
• Day Shift: Monday‑Friday, 5:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Rate of Pay

• $19.00 per hour to start.
