Job summary

Fraser Public Schools is seeking a Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Teacher to deliver high-quality early childhood education. The Lead Teacher will implement curriculum aligned with GSRP standards and coordinate with families, staff, and administrators to support holistic child development.

The role requires Michigan teaching certification with appropriate ECE endorsements or a related bachelor’s degree with credential.

Qualifications

  • A valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement, Early Childhood General and Special Education birth – kindergarten (ZN) or Lower Elementary Education PK (ZO) endorsement; or
  • A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development with a specialization in preschool teaching and a valid Michigan teaching certificate. The transcript will document a major, rather than a minor, in child development or early childhood education ; or
  • A bachelor’s degree in elementary teaching with a valid Preschool CDA and a valid Michigan teaching certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily implementation of the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD to support developmentally appropriate instruction.
  • Maintain a consistent schedule of observation, data collection, input, and analysis to inform instruction.
  • Plan and teach individual and group activities that promote growth in literacy, language, mathematics, science, social-emotional development, and motor skills.
  • Encourage creative expression through art, music, movement, and dramatic play.
  • Plan and teach in accordance with GSRP Performance Standards as outlined in the Implementation Manual.
  • Ensure compliance with all State of Michigan childcare licensing regulations.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that supports children with a wide range of cognitive, physical, and emotional needs.
  • Establish and reinforce positive behavior, attitudes, and social skills.
  • Document family eligibility, support follow-up needs, and conduct required home visits.
  • Maintain regular communication with families through newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, and home visits.
  • Promote and facilitate parent involvement in classroom and school-wide activities.
  • Collaborate with team members and participate in required staff, team, and professional development meetings.
  • Attend and participate in professional development as required by GSRP, MISD, licensing, and district guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the program administrator or site supervisor.

Education

Michigan teaching certificate with ECE ZA/ZS/ZN/ZO endorsement or equivalent

SUPERVISES:GSRP Associate Teacher

JOB GOAL: The GSRP Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a high-quality early childhood learning environment that aligns with the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) standards and fosters growth across all domains of development.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Within the first 30 days of employment and every year after (as long as remaining in the position) employee must complete the following: Infant, Child, & Adult CPR, first aid, blood borne pathogen training, and 16 clock hours of training in child development, curriculum, child discipline, health/safety, nutrition, working with parents, licensing rules for child care centers, and/or other relevant educational topics.

EVALUATION:Annual evaluation conducted by the Building Director/Supervisor.
