Job summary

The University of Vermont is seeking a Grazing and Pasture Technical Assistance Provider to assist farmers in developing and improving grazing systems and pasture management. The role includes teaching grazing plans, applying conservation practices, and supporting data analysis and grant reporting.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture/environmental stewardship and 2–4 years’ experience with grazing. A Master’s degree is desirable for competitive Applicants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to agriculture and/or environmental stewardship and 2‑4 years of direct experience with grazing systems.
• Must be skilled with a wide range of pastured livestock and grazing knowledge.
• Desirable: Master’s degree and applied research experience with key funders and Vermont agriculture.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to farmers to improve grazing systems and pasturing of livestock.
• Teach farmers to develop grazing systems and grazing management plans.
• Incorporate conservation strategies to improve water quality, soil health, and pasture condition.
• Manage data and assist in analysis and grant reporting.
