Job summary

GrayWolf Integrated Construction Company is seeking a Structural Welder for the Morgan City, LA project. The welder will join girders, columns and structural-steel members to form completed structures, following blueprints and specifications.

Ideal candidates have at least three years of heavy industrial welding experience and can perform TIG, MIG, and Arc welding with appropriate certifications. Candidates must provide their own toolbox and pass pre-hire requirements—physical testing may apply.

Qualifications

• Three years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Welder.
• Ability to identify welding techniques (TIG, MIG, Arc) and metal properties.
• Welding certification(s) required by company and/or client.
• Must own a locking toolbox and necessary tools.
• Must be able to complete all pre-hire requirements successfully.

Responsibilities

• Weld to project specifications and blueprints.
• Operate welding equipment (arc, MIG, TIG) safely.
• Read plans and ensure proper welds and dimensions.

Summary:

A Structural Welder raises, places and unites girders, columns and other structural-steel members to form completed structures or structure frameworks.

• Welding Safety - work safely around the hazards associated with the construction field.
• Welding Tools - use hand, electric, pneumatic and hydraulic tools and in a safe manner.
• Blue Print Reading - Correctly reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details, specifications, erection manuals and/or blue prints and makes competent decisions based on measurable criteria.
• Visualizes objects in three-dimensions from plans and drawings.
• Secure components together applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
• Bolt, clamp and tack weld parts to secure in position for welding.
• Prepare material for welding by cutting or grinding using pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and/or grinder.
• Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas shielded arc, gas shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
• Repair products by dismantling, straightening and reshaping.Reassemble parts using cutting torch, straightening press and hand tools.

Weld Test Details:

• 3 position / 1g, 2, g & 3g , 3 position / ½" Thick carbon steel plates.
• 1 - Horizontal, 1 - Uphill Vertical & 1 Overhead will be welded at the same time.
• Welding will be with .045" 70 Series flux cored wire.
• Only stringer weld passes will be allowed. ½" Thick carbon steel plates.
• 1 - Horizontal,
• 1 - Uphill Vertical & 1 Overhead will be welded at the same time.
• Welding will be with .045" 70 Series flux cored wire.

Qualifications:

• Three (3) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Welder.
• Ability to identify all techniques of welding (TIG, MIG, Arc etc.) and know all properties of various types of metals and how heat affects them.
• Completion of welding certification(s) required by company and/or client.
• Must have locking toolbox and tools necessary to perform the job.
• Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.

Physical/Site Requirements:

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
• Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent withage.
• Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outsideconditions.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, andscaffolds.
• PPE footwear/prescription safety glasses or eye shields required.
