Summary:

A journeyman-level Rigger with a minimum of 4 years of heavy industrial experience is responsible for moving extra-heavy equipment, machinery, and materials that are impossible to move through conventional methods. A rigger uses cranes and lifts to transport heavy equipment, machinery, or large cargo such as manufacturing or construction equipment.

Essential Duties:

• Safely and competently identify and use advanced rigging procedures and equipment.
• Locate and secure materials or equipment to be moved by lift, following safety guidelines.
• Select appropriate cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, sheaves, slings, chokers, and shackles based on load weight and size.
• Understand load limits of various rigging components.
• Communicate effectively with all personnel and perform mathematical calculations for load requirements.
• Complete pre-lift checklists and assist with lift plans.
• Proficient in the use of hand signals.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 4 years heavy industrial field experience as a Rigger.
• Possession of NCCCO Rigger Level 1 or NCCER Rigging Intermediate certification at minimum.
• Own a locking toolbox and necessary tools for the job.
• Able to complete all pre-hire requirements successfully.

Physical/Site Requirements:

• Lift and carry items weighing up to 45 pounds.
• Navigate confined, cluttered, and uneven areas with full range of motion and flexibility.
• Work up to 12-hour shifts in varying outdoor conditions.
• Climb and balance on steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
• Wear PPE including footwear, prescription safety glasses, or eye shields.
