Job summary

Wisconsin Environment, part of Environment America, is seeking a Conservation Advocate in Madison, WI to protect natural places, reduce plastic waste, and promote clean energy. You will lead coalitions, organize events, recruit volunteers, secure media attention, shape policy priorities, advocate to decision-makers, fundraise, and help grow the team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of advocacy or organizing experience.
• Effective communicator with writing and public speaking skills.
• Experience getting traditional and digital media coverage is a plus.
• Creative and strategic thinker; able to seize opportunities.
• Connector and listener; brings people together around a common goal.
• Well-organized and able to handle multiple proposals simultaneously.
• Able to travel regularly and occasional evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Build coalitions across diverse organizations and groups.
• Organize webinars, community events and public meetings.
• Recruit and work with volunteers.
• Earn traditional and social media attention for campaigns.
• Help shape program priorities through policy research and messaging.
• Advocate to decision-makers through lobbying and testimony.
• Fundraise through grant proposals and donor relationships.
• Grow the team by recruiting and supervising staff and interns.
