Job summary

Environment America is hiring Campaign Associates in cities across the United States, including Richmond, VA, to work on campaigns protecting the natural world. You will educate and mobilize the public, build coalitions, and advocate for clean energy, clean air, and clean water.

This entry-level role includes training, flexible scheduling to accommodate evenings and weekends, and opportunities to lead campus or community organizing efforts, recruit volunteers, and gain hands-on campaign

Qualifications

• Passion for the environment and using grassroots organizing to win campaigns.
• Top-notch writing and public speaking skills.
• An eagerness to learn.
• Organizing experience, including building campus or community groups.

Responsibilities

• Educate and mobilize public support: Conduct online and in-person outreach to educate the public on our issues and ways to get involved.
• Build coalitions: Reach out to a broad range of organizations and affected constituency groups to demonstrate support for our campaign goals.
• Earn traditional media and social media attention: Organize news conferences and write opinion pieces and build a following on social media.
• Organize events and work with volunteers: Organize webinars, community events and public meetings and recruit volunteers and staff.
• Lobby elected officials: Meet with decision makers to advocate for our campaign goals.
• Research and write reports: Catalog and analyze data to influence public debate and media coverage.
• Recruit new people to your team: Help build your team by recruiting volunteers, interns and full-time staff.
• Run a grassroots campaign office: Summer office operations, fundraising goals, and managing a team; may relocate to different office locations.
• Participate in trainings and other priority projects as needed.
