Job summary

Martinus Rail is seeking a Grapple Truck Operator for rail construction to support our ongoing projects. You will maneuver hi-rail equipment and operate grapple truck on road-based or on-site assignments, while maintaining safety and compliance with railroad regulations.

Daily tasks include equipment inspection, adherence to traffic laws, and effective communication with team members and customers. Candidates should have 2+ years of grapple truck experience and CDL A.

  • Must be willing to work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, on-call, nights, weekends & holidays.
  • Able to work in a team environment and individually.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, willingness to take direction.
  • Willingness to tackle new and challenging tasks.
  • Travel requirements as assigned.
  • Must pass federal background check.
  • Ability to comply with FRA 219 drug program.
  • Possess and demonstrate knowledge of FRA 213 rules and regulations.

Tasks and ResponsibilitiesMaintain a safety conscious work ethic.

  • Maneuver vehicles and other machinery around construction areas.
  • Operation of hi-rail equipment, such as grapple truck.
  • Should possess acute visual perception abilities to accurately judge distances.
  • A basic understanding of electronics to operate many of the newer vehicles designed with electronic controls.
  • Daily equipment inspection and maintenance.
  • Will obey all traffic laws, ordinances, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
  • Be familiar with federal and state regulations as they relate to the railroad industry.
  • Adhere to and promote safe work practices.
  • Effectively communicate with team members and customers.

  • Essential physical requirements, such climbing, standing, bending, twisting and lifting.
  • Exposures encountered, such as hazardous materials, loud noise, extreme heat/cold.
  • Travel requirements as assigned.
  • Must pass federal background check.
  • Ability to comply with FRA 219 drug program.
  • Possess and demonstrate knowledge of FRA 213 rules and regulations.
  • Must have CDL A
