Job summary

Keystone Rail Recovery is seeking a traveling grapple truck operator to drive company vehicles to customer locations and maintain a safe, professional operation. You will load/unload railroad materials, service equipment, and support the team in daily field tasks.

Required are a valid CDL (A or B), experience with grapple trucks and hi-rail gear, and a clean driving record. You will pass background checks and drug tests and lifting up to 50 lbs and ladders are expected capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A or B CDL required.
  • Experience operating a grapple truck with hi-rail gear.
  • At least 1 year of railroad-related driving experience.
  • Clean driving record with no serious violations or DUIs.
  • Must pass background check and pre-employment drug test.
  • Must pass all training courses before starting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb ladders.

  • Operate company vehicles safely and follow traffic laws.
  • Participates in daily safety briefings and adheres to safety policies.
  • Operates Grapple and magnet to move and load/unload railroad materials.

  • Keep vehicles and equipment clean and organized; present quality to customers.
  • Work well with customers and co-workers; communicate effectively.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time safely.

Job Description

The grapple truck operator is responsible for driving and operating company vehicles to and from customer locations and to maintain a safe, clean, and professional operation at all times. The grapple truck operator will be responsible for loading and unloading railroad materials. The grapple truck operator will also be responsible for maintaining the vehicle, equipment, and property of the vehicle at all times. The grapple truck operator will also be responsible for working and assisting team members. This is a traveling position.

Responsibilities
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspection of trucks, trailers, and equipment in accordance with Company policy and D.O.T. regulations.
  • Operate company vehicles safely and follow all traffic laws.
  • Actively participates in daily safety briefings.
  • Follows all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate Grapple and magnet to move, stage, load/unload railroad materials.
  • Ensure that specifications, knowledge of weights and procedures for material handling are in place prior to commencing work.
  • Works with hydraulic tools, welding, cutting with torches, electrical tools and common hand tools in accomplishment of work assignments.
  • Maintains daily job reporting of production.
  • Continuously monitors equipment/vehicles to minimize downtime and to ensure operational readiness.
  • Maintains vehicles/equipment to ensure that they are cleaned of debris/trash, tools and equipment are organized and that the vehicle/equipment presents the level of quality our customers expect.
  • Work well and communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively and safely.

  • Previous relevant railroad experience.
