Job summary

BrightView is seeking an Equipment Operator for our Sarasota, FL area. You will operate a Grapple/Knuckleboom Truck safely, perform daily checks, and help maintain and secure equipment. The role emphasizes safety and adherence to policies.

Minimum 3 years of equipment operating experience, a valid CDL Class B license, and ability to pass background checks and a DOT medical exam are required. Overtime and outdoor work in hot conditions may be involved.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in equipment operating and maintenance.
• Valid FL driver's license - CDL class B.
• Pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.
• Valid DOT medical certificate or able to pass a DOT physical.
• Experience near automotive traffic (not mandatory).
• Experience near water (not mandatory).
• Able to work 8+ hours/day with breaks and some overtime/weekend work (not mandatory).
• Ability to work in temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit (not mandatory).
• Ability to lift 40 lbs. and load/unload 50 lbs. (not mandatory).
• Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously (not mandatory).

Responsibilities

• Operate a Grapple/Knuckleboom Truck safely and effectively to minimize risk of injury or damage.
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
• Clean heavy equipment as scheduled or required.
• Ensure heavy equipment is safely stored.
• Advise Foreman of maintenance or repair needs.
• Participate in routine maintenance.
• Practice workplace safety.

Here’s What You’d Do:

The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a Grapple/Knuckleboom Truck in a safe and appropriate manner. Equipment Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies and procedures.

You’d Be Responsible For:

• Operating a Grapple/Knuckleboom Truck in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
• Performing daily safety and maintenance check.
• Cleaning heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required
• Ensuring heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
• Advising Foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
• Participating in routine maintenance
• Practicing workplace safety

You Might Be a Good Fit If You Have:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in equipment operating and maintenance
• You must have a valid FL driver's license - CDL class B
• You must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test
• You must have a valid DOT medical certificate or able to pass a DOT physical exam

And while not mandatory, it would be great if you also have:

• Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic
• Work near or about natural bodies of water
• Work 8+ hours per day with applicable breaks x 5 days/week (some overtime/weekend work required)
• Ability to work in extreme conditions – temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
• Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.
• Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)
• Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously throughout the day
