Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Graphite Production Lead to run day-to-day graphite machining operations and mentor a growing CNC team. You will own tooling strategy, scheduling, and quality standards for graphite parts from programming to final inspection, while partnering with engineering and EHS on safe handling of abrasive materials.

The role requires 5+ years in CNC machining (graphite/abrasive), 3+ years in a lead role, and proficiency with ESPRIT EDGE or Fusion 360.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machining or programming, with graphite or abrasive materials.
• 3+ years in a lead/supervisory role over a production team.
• Proficiency with CAM software for mills and/or lathes.
• Strong understanding of tooling wear, feeds/speeds, and work-holding for abrasive materials.
• Ability to read complex drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
• Familiarity with dust collection, ventilation, and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead, schedule, and mentor CNC programmers and machinists for graphite production.
• Own tooling and consumable strategy for graphite machining.
• Review CNC programs and toolpaths; troubleshoot setups with programmers.
• Ensure dust collection, ventilation, and PPE compliance.
• Coordinate production priorities with Management to hit timelines.
• Collaborate with Engineering and QC on DMF feedback and first articles.
• Maintain 5S, CI, and quality standards on the production floor.
• Hire, train, and develop team members as graphite production scales.
