Grand Valley State University’s Development division is seeking a talented part-time graphic designer to join our communications team. This flexible, remote-friendly position begins at approximately 10 hours per week with room to grow. You’ll create impactful materials – from alumni outreach to donor engagement campaigns – while collaborating with a mission-driven team. Job Type
Temporary Hourly. Part-time not to exceed 29 hours per week.
Compensation
$30.00 - $40.00 per hour commensurate with experience
Essential Functions
- Design print and digital materials for University Development and Alumni Relations, including emails, proposals, invitation suites, presentations, social media, and web headers.
- Collaborate with the team to strengthen fundraising, donor relations, and alumni engagement through various communications channels.
- Liaise with printers to obtain estimates, manage specifications, and ensure quality and cost control – when needed.
- Contribute to communication strategies that enhance donor acquisition and retention.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3–5 years of experience in: Graphic design across digital, print, video, and event media; Designing in a CMS and email distribution platform (Emma, MailChimp, etc.) similar to GVSU’s; Creating visuals for large-screen event displays.
- Expert level experience with Adobe suite creative products.
- Commitment to GVSU’s vision of inclusion and equity.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent time management: able to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in graphic design.
- Experience in higher education communications, especially in multiple-departments environments
- Familiarity with fundraising principles and stewardship communications.
Working Conditions
Position offers flexible hours and remote work. Please note out of state remote work is only available in authorized states (Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, New York, and North Carolina).
