The Associate Designer is an early career designer who works directly with Design colleagues to contribute to the efforts of the Design team and supports existing accounts and business development opportunities. The Associate Designer is developing a robust understanding of Smurfit Westrock’s business objectives, technical processes, and manufacturing. Will apply these learnings into the design process. Works independently, stays organized, communicates well, demonstrates excellent time management, and delivers consistently high-quality output. This role is typically filled by a recent graduate from a design-related field with 0-3 years of post-graduate work experience.

Responsibilities
  • Supports the execution of graphic visuals, packaging layouts, mockups, and marketing collateral with direction from teammates and Design Manager
  • Understands basic print processes and mock-up production workflow. Gains exposure to production file setup and how to translate that knowledge into execution
  • With guidance from more senior colleagues and leadership, can translate, recreate, and modify customer graphics onto creative packaging layouts. Understands the process of creating, and with support from project leaders, executing graphic mockups
  • Has an understanding of Smurfit Westrock Brand Standards and applies Smurfit Westrock branding in a manner that adheres to our corporate guidelines
  • Maintain and manage an effective time management schedule and critical prioritizations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You Need To Succeed
  • Basic proficiency of Adobe Suite – Especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and In-design
  • Basic proficiency of Microsoft Office products – Especially Power Point, Word, and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to understand 3D thinking
  • Basic proficiency of 3D software
  • Basic understanding of printing processes and limitations
  • Proficient in operation of equipment including Cad Tables & Large format printers
  • Can effectively execute display art, instruction sheets, 3D renderings, mockups, etc.

The salary range for this position is $50,250.00 - $83,750.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and a number of programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work. Your actual pay will be based on your work location and other factors, such as your skills, experience, and education.
