Job summary

Cal Poly's Department of Art and Design seeks a Graphic Design Technician to support the operation, coordination, and instructional services of the Art and Design labs and printing spaces. This role will coordinate activity, provide technical support for classes and student projects, and supervise student assistants, including hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluation.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate and foster a productive work environment for a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency with setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting lab equipment and printers.
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite and standard office software on Mac and PC.
• Basic proficiency in workflows in industry-standard software for graphic, interaction, and web design.
• Ability to troubleshoot image reproduction and coordinate with outside vendors for maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate activity and access to Art and Design labs and printing spaces.
• Supervise hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluation of student assistants.
• Provide specialized technical and instructional support for classes and student projects.
• Order, issue, and maintain inventories of lab equipment and supplies.
• Maintain equipment and provide safety instructions for faculty, staff, and students.
