Support Kentucky’s criminal justice training mission by coordinating clear, accessible, and engaging visual communication across print, digital, web, and multimedia channels. In this onsite role in Richmond, KY, you’ll help steward the agency’s visual identity while producing brand-consistent materials for web, social, newsletters, and livestreamed events.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate and perform graphic design for agency print, digital, and web-based products.
- Develop and maintain the agency’s visual identity, branding standards, and official logos.
- Design professional materials including annual reports, surveys, brochures, publications, newsletters, and event materials, plus social media graphics.
- Create concepts, proofs, and mockups that meet agency standards and produce clear, accurate final deliverables.
- Manage and maintain the DOCJT and Kentucky Post-Critical Incident Seminar (KYPCIS) websites, including page layout, visual presentation, content organization, and routine updates.
- Use content management systems and apply working knowledge of HTML and CSS to support effective online presentation.
- Research and recommend web tools, platforms, and practices to improve digital communication.
- Develop and plan digital content for distribution through agency websites and email communication platforms.
- Produce the monthly Dispatches newsletter and support other email communications to DOCJT clients using mass email services such as Granicus GovDelivery and/or MailChimp.
- Prepare, edit, update, and format visual content for digital distribution and final output.
- Coordinate with the Public Information Section supervisor, executive staff, Cabinet Public Information Office, and other stakeholders to deliver professional visual products, including legislative, budgetary, and executive-level communications.
- Provide graphic design and multimedia support for agency events and affiliated initiatives, including the Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation.
- Support professional livestreaming of graduations, ceremonies, and other agency events by operating and coordinating production equipment.
- Research and maintain awareness of relevant software.
- Communicate and coordinate with commercial printers, vendors, and other service providers to identify graphic design and production needs.
- Prepare materials for prepress and final output, review proofs and specifications, and work with vendors to ensure accurate, high-quality reproduction of outsourced materials.
- Perform other duties as required.
What you’ll bring
- 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, commercial art, studio art, or a closely related field.
- Strong graphic design and visual communication skills, with proficiency in industry-standard design software, including Adobe Creative Suite and Creative Cloud.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including contributing creative concepts and ideas to campaigns and initiatives.
- Project, time-management, and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment with leadership, clients, project stakeholders, and vendors.
- Experience with content management systems, working knowledge of HTML and CSS, and familiarity with digital communication platforms.
- Ability to stay current with and evaluate emerging graphic design, web, multimedia, and production technologies.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to frequently communicate in person or by other means of technology.
- Ability to spend a major portion of time using a computer.
- Travel required; state vehicle provided.

Employment details: Executive Branch, Full Time, eligible for overtime pay; 37.5 hr/week. Pay Grade 14. Salary: $59,499.84 annually ($59,499). Working conditions include some contact with the public, agency personnel, and printing company representatives.
Location: 4449 Kit Carson Drive, Richmond, KY 40475 (onsite).
Probationary period: Initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
