Job summary

URBAN LEAGUE OF ROCHESTER NY INC is seeking a Program Accountant to develop, monitor, and maintain accounting and financial reporting for assigned programs in Rochester, NY. The role collaborates with program directors and PPR&E to determine costs and prepare supporting budgets.

The candidate will analyze budget-to-actual variances, prepare monthly accounting spreadsheets, and ensure proper recording of all grant costs.

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in Accounting with at least 3 years of experience in general accounting and/or grant/contract management.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least 2 years of experience in general accounting and/or grant/contract management.
Ability to read contracts, summarize the accounting and financial reporting requirements, and translate that information into appropriate accounting entries and transactions.
Experience managing federal, state, and local program accounts is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop, monitor, and maintain all accounting and financial reporting requirements for assigned programs.
Prepare program accounting spreadsheets and monthly analyses for Comptroller review.
Analyze budget variances and communicate findings to program directors and PPR&E.
Prepare vouchers and billings for contracts/grants within deadlines.
Support Medicaid billings and re-bills for funded programs.
Attend budget reviews and assist with contract proposals and related reports.
