Job description

The Grants Manager is a key position within the Ms. Foundation for Women with three primary responsibilities:

  1. Overseeing an effective and well-functioning grants management system and process for all of Ms.’ grantmaking cycles.
  2. Leading all aspects of Ms. grantmaking programs’ lifecycle of grants from concept through due diligence and grant award to final reporting.
  3. Providing data analysis and metrics to the Program Team and Ms. departments on the impact of Ms.’ grantmaking, which is currently focused on Women and Girls of Color, Trans and gender nonbinary people of color, and Indigenous women and girls.

As a newly created position at the Ms. Foundation, the Grants Manager will help to envision and shape an effective grants management system to fully support the dynamic grantmaking of the organization and to tell the impact of its funding. Ms. Foundation is strongly grantee-centered and relationship-driven and is interested in finding ways to further adopt trust-based philanthropy practices. The Grants Manager works closely with all departments across the Foundation, including the Program Team, Finance and Operations, Advancement, and the President/CEO’s office. In FY2021, Ms. Foundation awarded $4.8M in over 100 grants. It is anticipated that the volume and award amount will be about the same for 2022. This mid-level position is an opportunity to apply and build on experience and knowledge of grantmaking compliance, operations, and technology solutions.

This full-time, exempt position reports to the Senior Director of Grantmaking and Capacity Building and will be part of the Program Team that currently consists of seven people. This position is based in Brooklyn, NY. During the COVID-19 pandemic, all Ms. Foundation staff are working remotely.
