Job summary

Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha, NE is seeking a Grants Manager to lead grant strategy, write proposals, manage budgets, and steward donors across foundations and government sources. You will coordinate reporting, cultivate institutional relationships, and ensure grants align with organizational goals.

The role requires 5+ years of grant experience, strong communication, and expertise with nonprofit fundraising and budget development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or combination of relevant experience and education.
• Minimum of 5 years experience with grant writing and management.
• Proven track record on raising money from foundation/government sources.
• Ability to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to monitor and meet fundraising income goals.
• Previous experience with non-profit fundraising.
• Previous experience with capital campaigns, preferred.
• Show compassion toward all animals and a desire to help them.
• Knowledge of fundraising information sources.
• Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors.
• Proven track record with institutional donors.
• Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
• Excellent written and oral communication.

• Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospects.
• Experience with budget development and monitoring.
• Experience in program development.
• Knowledge of grant contracts and agreements.
• Strong editing skills; meticulous grammar and spelling.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Grants Manager

Position Title: Grants Manager

Department: Development

Position Summary

The Grants Manger is responsible for all aspects of raising financial support from foundations, corporations, and government sources requiring proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects.

Essential Job Functions

• Responsible for the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals from individuals, foundation, and corporate sources.
• Write all proposals, prepare budgets, reports, and other ancillary materials.
• Comply with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.
• Develop and foster relationships with institutional founders.
• Provide stewardship for existing donors and cultivation of new donors.
• Manage existing grants by tracking grants, developing internal reporting systems, writing reports, maintaining excellent historical records, working with staff to ensure each project or program is meeting proposal conditions and expectations.
• Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.
• Manage a large donor portfolio to contribute toward our organizational budget.
• Monitor and manage grants income goal.
• Assist with other fundraising projects and events as requested.
