Job summary

AsylumWorks seeks a detail-oriented Grants Management Specialist in Washington, DC, to grow and diversify its grants portfolio. You will drive research, proposals, reporting, and compliance across foundations, state/local, and federal funders, reporting to the Director of Advancement.

The ideal candidate is an excellent writer who can tailor narratives to different audiences and align grant deliverables with program operations and budgets.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years nonprofit grants experience
• Strong writing skills to convey program impact
• Excellent organizational skills and deadline focus
• Comfort working with budgets and financial data
• Proficiency with CRM systems, Google Workspace and PM software
• Ability to work across teams with diverse stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Identify prospective funders aligned with AsylumWorks’ mission and programs
• Support outreach to funders outside the annual solicitation cycle
• Write letters of inquiry, proposals, and supporting materials
• Develop program knowledge to align deliverables with budgets
• Collaborate with Operations on grant budgeting and forecasting
• Manage a grants calendar with deadlines and renewals
• Coordinate with program staff to gather data for applications and reports
• Support onboarding for new awards with program and finance
• Monitor grant agreements for compliance with funder requirements
• Maintain accurate financial records in the CRM and grants files
• Coordinate funder site visits and prepare required materials
• Support audits and financial reviews related to restricted funding
