Job summary

ExpandED Schools is seeking an Associate, Development to support grants and donor activity in NYC. You will work with the Senior Director of Institutional Giving on research, proposals, reports, and grants management while assisting broader development duties including database upkeep, Board engagement, and event support.

The role also involves individual giving, prospect research, and preparing materials for funder calls, with hybrid work and regular NYC travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience and 1–2 years of fundraising experience.
  • Prior grant writing experience with successful proposals and reports.
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or equivalent fundraising database.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office; comfortable with PowerPoint presentations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Support prospect research to identify foundation and corporate funding opportunities.
  • Draft, edit, and format grant proposals, LOIs, funder reports, and acknowledgments.
  • Assemble budgets, financial statements, board lists, IRS letters, and attachments.
  • Gather program data and outcomes to strengthen proposals and narratives.
  • Track grant deadlines and submission logistics; ensure timely delivery.
  • Monitor post-award compliance and flag issues to SDIG as needed.
  • Coordinate funder site visits, calls, and meetings.
  • Maintain funder records in Raiser's Edge and Airtable; organize archives.
  • Support donor events, annual appeals, and stewardship activities.
