Job summary

The Child Center of NY in New York City is seeking an Accountant to manage the fiscal administration of contracts and grants, including budgets, budget modifications, invoice submissions, and grant spending reports.

The role requires collaborating with program directors to ensure compliance with funding source requirements, timely billings, and accurate general ledger entries, supporting responsible funding and organizational mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Two years of general accounting experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Accounting experience in a nonprofit environment preferred.
• Experience with accounting work for NYC human services grants/contracts preferred.
• Working knowledge of Fund EZ, PowerPlan/BudgetPro, Dayforce (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Review contracts and grants requirements and outline tasks, deliverables and due dates.
• Prepare budgets and budget modifications in compliance with funding source requirements with program directors.
• Prepare all monthly, quarterly, or annual invoices for assigned contracts and ensure timely submission.
• Prepare grant spending reports in accordance with grant requirements.
• Analyze expenses for assigned contracts and ensure allowability and proper variances.
• Prepare monthly contract analyses to review receivable and revenue.
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on non-current receivables to ensure timely payment.
• Record expense accruals and other GL adjustments with proper back-up.
• Collaborate with program directors and funding sources to ensure timely billings and compliance.
• Prepare close-out packages and audit supports as required.
