Grants and Contracts Specialist II, CALS

Position Title: Grants and Contracts Specialist II, CALS

Division/College: College of Agricultural & Life Sciences

Department: College of Agricultural & Life Sciences

Location: Moscow

Position Overview: This position manages the administration of externally sponsored projects such as grants and contracts at the college, program or unit level, ensuring compliance with university policies, sponsor requirements, and applicable regulations. The successful candidate will facilitate program management within a unit or area and work with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to review and process all pre- and post-award functions, including agreements, modifications, and sponsor prior approval requests, focusing on moderate- to high-risk projects.

Duties may include:

  1. Collect, analyze, interpret, and document information from sponsored project agreements and amendments.
  2. Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and staff to develop, review, and submit sponsored project proposals.
  3. Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and financial reports for compliance.
  4. Work closely with Principal Investigators (PI) and Co-PIs to resolve project-related issues.
  5. Facilitate the timely and accurate closeout of sponsored projects.
  6. Provide guidance and training on sponsored project policies and procedures.
  7. Perform administrative or office support functions for at least three years.
  8. Compose, proof, and edit business documents with proper grammar and punctuation.
  9. Use computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, email, and research.
  10. Interpret and apply laws, regulations, and policies, including university, federal, state, and sponsor regulations.
  11. Manage projects involving multiple stakeholders independently.

Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Other: Ability to travel occasionally.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Certified Research Administrator or Certified Financial Research Administrator
  • Three years of experience in sponsored programs support, compliance, or related work, preferably in higher education or non-profit sectors.
  • Experience serving as a liaison between internal and external entities.
  • Experience with multiple sponsoring agencies and agreement types.
  • Customer service experience in a team environment.
  • Experience with finance or human resource modules in Banner system.
  • Knowledge of or experience with 2 CFR part 200.
