Job summary

Scion Nonprofit Staffing is recruiting a Grants Accountant for a well-established nonprofit professional association in New York, NY. The role focuses on grant accounting, reporting, and compliance across ~40 government and private foundation grants.

The position is contract-to-hire with a flexible hybrid schedule requiring 2–3 onsite days per week in Midtown Manhattan. Ideal candidates have nonprofit grant accounting experience and proficiency in NetSuite and Excel.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounting for nonprofit, grant-fund, or restricted-fund environments.
• Knowledge of federal, state and private foundation grant accounting requirements.
• Strong proficiency with journal entries, reconciliations, and audits.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grant accounting records, budgets, projections, reconciliations, and documentation.
• Prepare grant invoices, reimbursements, financial reports, and budget modifications.
• Monitor expenditures, funding availability, and variances vs. budget.
• Prepare journal entries, cost allocations, and GL reconciliations for month-end/year-end close.
• Collaborate with program teams on budgeting, compliance, and audits.
• Support budgeting, financial reporting, and audits as needed.
