Job summary

Clackamas County is seeking an entry-level Grants Accountant I to join the Grants team. This developmental role focuses on governmental grant accounting, supported by experienced accountants to build knowledge and expertise for increased responsibility over time.

You will assist with financial reporting, grant tracking, expenditure analysis, and reconciliations while ensuring funds are managed in compliance with federal, state, county, and GAAP standards.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Clackamas County is seeking a detail-oriented Grants Accountant 1 to join our Grants team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to build expertise in governmental grant accounting while working alongside experienced accountants and grant professionals.

As a Grants Accountant 1, you will support grant accounting operations by assisting with financial reporting, grant tracking, expenditure analysis, reconciliations, and other accounting activities that ensure grant funds are managed responsibly and comply with regulations. This is a developmental role designed to help you build the knowledge and experience needed to take on increasing responsibility over time.

You will review grant revenues and expenditures, assist with grant draw requests, prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, maintain financial records, and help prepare financial reports and supporting schedules. Working closely with senior accountants, you will also assist with payroll redistributions, cost allocations, fiscal reviews, and audit support while collaborating with departments across the County to promote accurate reporting and compliance with federal, state, county, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
