Job summary

The Robert R. McCormick Foundation's Communities Program in Chicago invites two recent graduates or current graduate students to join as Grantmaking Interns for a six-month period beginning in June 2019.

Interns will evaluate grant proposals, attend site visits, complete write-ups, and build relationships with community-based practitioners within a place-based, systems-change framework. The interns report to the Senior Program Officer and Program Officer, work full-time, and receive compensation

Qualifications

• Recent graduate or graduate student in nonprofit management, public policy, journalism, communications, social work or related fields with strong interest in community engagement and philanthropy.

Responsibilities

• Grant evaluation and write-ups for assigned grant recommendations.
• Site visits and staff presentations with data-driven funding recommendations.
• Research in place-based or other target community areas to inform grantmaking strategies.
• Build relationships with community networks, practitioners and partners.
