Position Description

This role involves managing all aspects of the garden during summer, including cultivating crops, harvesting, running a CSA, chicken care, beekeeping, marketing, selling produce, and record-keeping.

Qualifications
  • Students of all majors encouraged to apply; preferred majors include biology, business, marketing, entrepreneurship, environmental science, and engineering.
  • No experience required; gardening, landscaping, horticulture, farming, or business experience preferred.
  • Must be hardworking, dedicated, able to work outdoors in all weather, independent, self-motivated, enjoy physical labor, possess customer service skills, work well in a team, and understand caring for living things.
Dress Code & Working Conditions
  • Sturdy shoes and appropriate work clothes.
  • Outdoor work exposed to sun, rain, insects.
  • Valid driver's license required; ability to drive Messiah vehicles.
  • Physical labor including bending, lifting, kneeling, standing.
Primary Duties
  • Planting and harvesting crops, delivering produce, running farm stands, maintenance, watering, chicken care, and attendance.
Secondary Duties
  • Tracking income/expenses, organizing fall farm stands, recruiting volunteers, and other tasks.
