Job summary

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis invites applications for a Grant Writing Intern to join our Advancement team. This role will research and draft written proposals to donor prospects supporting the Centennial Capital Campaign, seeking funding for new programs and exhibits.

Compensation is $15.50/hour for Spring 2027, with a part-time schedule of 20 hours per week. The deadline is ASAP, with an estimated final decision in early November 2026.

Qualifications

• Be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Available to work at least 20 hours per week, weekdays 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion (DEAI).
• Prior grant writing, nonprofit writing, or communications experience is preferred but not required.
• We strongly encourage submitting a writing sample.

Responsibilities

• Research potential funders (foundation, corporate, government) for alignment with museum projects.
• Write first drafts of LOIs and full grant proposals to donors.
• Draft grant reports with collaboration from Exhibit Development, School Programming, or Community Initiatives.
• Provide occasional on-site administrative support to the Development Team, donor event communications, and event setup/stewardship.
