GRANT WRITER
Full Time/Part Time Full Time Total Hours Per Week 35 From Salary $60,000 To Salary $70,000
Job Summary:
The Grant Writer is responsible for supporting Saint Dominic’s Family Services’ institutional grant development efforts, with a primary focus on researching and evaluating funding opportunities, developing compelling grant proposals, coordinating the grant lifecycle, and ensuring timely and accurate grant reporting and compliance. The Grant Writer works closely with program leadership and other internal stakeholders to identify funding needs, develop competitive proposals, coordinate grant requirements and deliverables, and support relationships with institutional funders.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Research, identify, and evaluate foundation, corporate, government, and other institutional funding opportunities aligned with Saint Dominic’s Family Services’ programs, funding needs, and strategic priorities.
- Review and analyze grant guidelines, eligibility requirements, funding priorities, application requirements, deadlines, and reporting expectations, and provide leadership with concise summaries and recommendations regarding potential funding opportunities.
- Maintain a comprehensive grant prospect pipeline, funding calendar, and tracking system to monitor opportunities, proposals, awards, payments, deadlines, deliverables, reporting requirements, and renewal opportunities.
- Develop, write, edit, and submit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, renewal requests, applications, and other funding requests.
- Coordinate the grant lifecycle, from prospect research and proposal development through submission, award, reporting, renewal, and closeout, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and established deadlines.
- Collaborate with program, and leadership staff to gather required information and develop compelling grant narratives, budgets, goals, objectives, outcomes, performance measures, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate the collection of programmatic, financial, and outcome data required for grant applications and reports, working collaboratively with program and other appropriate staff to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
- Prepare and submit interim, annual, final, and other required grant reports and supporting materials; maintain accurate and organized grant files and documentation.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with institutional funders as appropriate, coordinate funder communications and information requests, and stay informed of changes in funding priorities, guidelines, and application requirements.
- Maintain accurate grant, funding, initiative and organization information in the agency’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and other tracking systems.
- Assist with grant reports, correspondence, tracking, and other materials as needed.
- Support departmental projects, events, and other Communications & Development activities as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required in nonprofit management, communications, English, public administration, business, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in grant writing, institutional fundraising, development, or a related field.
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations and human services, behavioral health, education, developmental disabilities, child welfare, or related fields preferred.
- Experience with donor databases/CRMs.
Skills And Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor database systems/ CRM experience preferred.
- Ability to interact and complete assignments in a manner sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- May be required to lift up to 25 pounds or more.
- Required to commute to other agency locations as needed.
